Roof Replacement in Ten Mile

Years of weather blowing in from Watts Bar Lake left this home in need of a roof replacement. The shingles showed seal failure, loss of granules, and wind damage, all worsened by age. Since the property serves as a vacation home, it was important to the owners that they could leave it without worrying about leaks or clogged gutters. They went with an Owens Corning Platinum architectural shingle backed by a 50-year TruProtection Warranty. Along with our 25-year workmanship warranty, they gained lasting protection and peace of mind.

The home’s design created one major problem area. A chimney placed next to a dormer, combined with no gutters, meant water was directed straight to the chimney’s side and base. It was only a matter of time before there would be leaks. As part of the reroof, gutters were added to the dormers, moving water safely away. We also installed RainDrop gutter guards across the roofline, making sure clogs wouldn’t be an issue.

The chimney itself received additional waterproofing. We resealed the base, built a stronger cricket for better water shedding, and installed a custom powder-coated cap with a drip edge. Dark green was chosen to match the existing gutter system, tying the project together.

Under the Driftwood colored shingles we installed synthetic underlayment, metal drip edge, step flashing where needed, and Lifetime Ultimate pipe boots at all penetrations. To top it off, we installed Lomanco OmniRidge Pro ridge vents to keep attic heat and moisture at bay.

After completion, the homeowners had what they were looking for: a long-term fix to a serious concern. With a dependable roof and improved water control, they can enjoy their lake home without constant upkeep, or know they do not need to worry while they are away.
