Announcing Our Hometown Hero Free Roof Giveaway Winner!

Knoxville, TN – November 21, 2024 – Smith Roofing & Exteriors, a leading provider of roofing in the Knoxville area, is proud to announce the winner of the Hometown Hero Roof Giveaway. This year’s Hometown Hero is… Caleb Ryan Bailey!

First, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who submitted nominations for our Hometown Hero Roof Giveaway. The stories we received were incredible, showcasing the selflessness, bravery, and compassion that make our community so special. We truly wish we could give a new roof to every nominee because each one of them embodies what it means to be a hero.

About the winners

Caleb is a dedicated officer with the Knoxville Police Department – TN, who goes above and beyond to protect our community. His courage and compassion are unmatched. Last Christmas Eve, Caleb answered a dangerous call about a shooter targeting a home. He was the closest officer and pursued the suspect, who proceeded to fire at Caleb. Thankfully, the shots missed.

But that hasn’t slowed Caleb down—he continues to work tirelessly to make Knoxville a safer place. During slow times at work, Caleb tracks down individuals with warrants to remove dangerous threats from our streets. He’s also known for his compassion, like when he was the first on the scene to carry a 2-year-old child who had been shot. Caleb had seen her playing outside just days before, making the moment all the more heartbreaking.

At home, Caleb and his wife, Hope, are in the midst of fixing up their home. Unfortunately, their roof has begun leaking, making their dream of starting a family more difficult. Caleb is a humble, hardworking man who never asks for a handout, but we’re so excited to give him a “hand up” this Christmas.

In December—one year after his bravery on Christmas Eve—we’re replacing Caleb and Hope’s roof to make their holidays a little brighter and their home a safer place to begin their next chapter.
