Chimney Rebuild in Louisville, TN

The wood-sided chase had years of rot. Water got in at the cap, around the cricket, and traveled down the sides. Gutter overflow added to the problem. It was time for a much needed chimney rebuild.

We stripped the chase down to the framing. The studs were too far gone, so we rebuilt the frame with new 2x4s to the same size and shape. OSB sheathing went on next. For a weather barrier we wrapped the chase with TRI-BUILT Woven house wrap. Then we installed James Hardie woodgrain lap siding with matching trim. The primed boards were painted a contrasting warm brown to match the home’s darker chocolate brown. At the top we installed an enlarged painted metal cap for better water shed. Flashing at the cricket and wall lines was addressed during the rebuild. This work ran with a new TAMKO roof and RainDrop gutter guards for cleaner runoff. The completed finished chimney compliments the home, is waterproof, and is easy to maintain.

If you worry that your chimney leaks are causing real damage to your home, give us a call… before the next storm.
