Roof Repair in Lenoir City After Storms
The original roof was no longer holding up against the wind and storms coming off Fort Loudoun Lake. Shingles were blowing off, losing granules, and nails were backing out. This Lenoir City homeowner knew it was time for an upgrade and added protection.
During a roof inspection, the Smith team found that the 16-year-old roof had significant issues. Two areas on the left slope showed signs of previous repairs that had led to shingle loss. They also noted improperly installed drip edges and missing underlayment. Heavy granule loss and blistering on the front slope indicated poor attic ventilation. Three pipe boots of varying sizes were identified. Starter shingles were found in the gutter on the rear slope, suggesting an installation error. The roof’s seal strips were failing, allowing wind to lift the shingles—a clear sign that the roof had reached the end of its service life. Everyone agreed it was time for a new roof.
Because the damage was primarily caused by recent storms, insurance adjusters were called and approved a full roof replacement.
To maintain a similar look, the homeowner chose Owens Corning TruDuration® AR architectural shingles in Desert Rose, not only for their rich color but also for their enhanced weather resistance. The 50-year limited material warranty was another major advantage.
Once the materials arrived on-site, the new roof was installed in just two days from start to finish.
